North Drift reopens

Underground experience now open to visitors | New prices

We are delighted to announce that we are able to reopen the North Drift.

The North Drift is our main underground attraction. The main outlet for ironstone from Loftus Mine, it was sunk in 1865 to coincide with the opening of the railway line which came to Skinningrove. It’s distinctive brick lining is three layers deep and ensure the drift is secure to this day. It has been closed as a precaution since the ‘Beast from the East’ affected the Upcast building, but we are now able to take visitors in again.

As a result, this week we are introducing a price structure;

Adults: £5

Concessions: £4.50

Children: £2
