Salt, Saxons and a Barrow of Stones – Street House Through the Ages with Dr Stephen Sherlock
For more than 6,000 years, the fields of Street House in Loftus have been a place where communities have lived, worked, and thrived. In this fascinating talk, Dr Stephen Sherlock shares insights from his latest excavations, uncovering remarkable local discoveries - from Neolithic stone art and Bronze Age stone circles to Iron Age farms and Roman activity. The story continues into the Saxon period, with finds including shields and seaxes, alongside evidence of early salt-making that shaped life in the region.
