Trustee
Do you want to use your skills to make a difference in your local community, build new friendships and professional contacts, and gain experience you can use in all areas of your life?
Following the opening of our new museum building and the North Drift experience, Land of Iron is recruiting new board members to help lead the next phase of our journey.
We welcome people from all backgrounds to share their knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm with our team and visitors, and to help us promote the industrial heritage of ironstone mining.
As a trustee, you’ll be supported by existing board members to learn about the organisation and your role. No formal qualifications or board experience are required—just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved.
Key responsibilities:
- Attend board meetings, contribute to discussions, and share ideas
- Help shape the museum’s strategic direction
- Make decisions on finance and governance
- Help refine and adopt our draft business plan
Board meetings are held every two months. We also have sub-committees for Health & Safety and Finance & Fundraising, which you can join if you have a particular interest in these areas.
You’re welcome to attend a trustee meeting with no obligation, meet the team, and see how the museum operates—get in touch.
This is a voluntary role, and reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
Please get in touch with us before then if you’d like to visit the museum and attend the meeting to see how we work. For more information, please email [email protected]
